Good eats in Karlstadt

It was a 70 km day. I didn't really know where I'd be spending the night, but figured that it should be pretty easy to find a place on a Sunday night. After pedaling into and through a couple of towns that were nice but very small, I ended up in Karlstadt.  I inquired and the tourist office and the guy didn't speak a bit of English but I was able to speak and understand just enough German to learn that above a restaurant with green umbrellas out front on the way to the town square there were rooms for rent.  I thanked him and wandered off wondering if I had understood correctly.

Sure enough, when I opened the door of the place they were just closing up to have their Sunday family dinner but they said they had a room.  The place was 400 years old and very cool.

It was also the place where I had the best meal of the trip.  Roasted pork and potatoes in a pepper sauce with local wine. Might tasty Frankish food!
