Downriver to Trier
I decided that my next stop should be Trier, about 80 km downriver from Saarlouis at the confluence of the Saar and Moselle Rivers. The Saar beyond Saarlouis is very picturesque. I made good time downriver after a few stops for pastries and lunch in small villages along the way.
Trier would be my base for the next two nights. I had read that it was a very old city and had lots to see so I figured it was worth a rest day. I found an inexpensive place outside the old city to use as a base.
