Well we experienced our first rain in Vietnam. Nothing like Seattle. Just misty, but that did not stop many hawkers from trying to sell us raincoats and umbrellas (Courtney's pet peeve)we did not want. One has to admire these people though...they are extremely hard working and often a family will live in a small room on the back of a boat they run, for probably $1 a day from the tour companies.
In addition to the boat ride, which was something out of "Apocalypse Now," the girls got to ride their first motor bikes as we visited several Emperor's tombs -- incredible monuments to the dead -- off the boat and it was too far to walk. Anna and I doubled, but I caught my breathe as Hallie took off with a stranger down a muddy road on her bike! I was then asked to buy a "souvenier" for the driver: a beer. Go figure!

Now we are back at the hotel getting ready to go to dinner. Lots of noodles, eggs and French bread here, along with fruit smoothies and beer. Girls are amazing travelers. Mommy only loses it when one too many touts try to sell me things I don't want but as Garin said, "It's the culture, honey." Thanks to everyone staying in touch with bits from home.
