After a wonderful day that started with Vietnamese Santa, a great breakfast cooked personally by our hostess, and a visit to an architectural wonder known as the Crazy House (picture Alice in Wonderland meets Salvador Dali on a little acid trip with strange jungle creatures, vines and such throughout). We strolled around town, which includes a lovely little lake and lots of people on bikes shouting, "hello!" We had a great lunch at the "V" Cafe, complete with curry, tacos for Anna, meatballs and the best flan, chocolate pie and lemon meringue desserts ever! That made up for what was later probably one of the worst meals we've had in Vietnam (and that has only been two). Picture a hair in the veggies, a CD skipping to "Somewhere over the rainbow," throughout the entire meal despite Mom's miming "skipping" with her fingers (Hallie said it was patronizing, but it still did not get message across). All that said, we had a very Merry Christmas and miss you all immensely. Tomorrow we hope to ride elephants (where I have no clue), see a waterfall and watch silkworms making silk. Then on to HCMC, formerly known as Saigon.
