This entry will be a hodepodge as so much has happened in the last 24 hours. Well, we had great success with the tailors. All us girls had things made at separate tailors. Mommy learned to wheel and deal with the best of them and Garin has decided it's time to leave Hoi An before she breaks the bank. Truly though, you can have a blazer made here for $20 and a skirt for $10. Today we went on another tour of the ancient "Holy Land" known as My Son. This place was bombed badly in 1969 but the 1000+ year ruins of the Cham people -- one of the 54 ethnic minorities in this country today -- still blows you away with how old it all is and the Hindu influence. Very cool statues and ruins along with some bullet holes in the temples. Not to mention the fact we got to walk on a path through a jungle to get there and ride in a Jeep!
Still, we are ready for some sun, beach and R&R and starting to doubt we will find it as Christmas is prime vacation time for Viet Nam too and the beach place we had hoped to stay is fully booked already. Garin is trying to track down this Italian guy who runs a rustic beach sight 12 hours south of here but no emails returned and phone is busy. Still, one thing we've learned in this country of contrasts thus far is that it all works out, and "don't worry, be happy" (someone actually printed this on their business card I got). Found a great restaurant last night and have been back again for lunch already. Tonight we are going for a change to an Italian run joint called: "Good Morning Viet Nam!" Ciao! (did I spell that right?)....
