We've arrived on the island of Java. After seeing how the bus system works here, we decided that a 20 hour night bus bus/ferry ride from Bali didn't sound like much fun. So we flew. Even with delays it was a only a few hours--definitely the right choice.
We splashed out a bit on our lodging too and are staying in a Dutch colonial era hotel called the Phoenix. Very posh. Hallie appreciated the bowl of snakefruit in our room and Anna is thrilled that they have Disney channel!
We'll spend the day exploring the city, pronounced by locals as "Jogja". Tomorrow we'll take in the massive 1100 year old Buddhist temple complex at Borobudur.
