Home again

Well, we arrived home about 11:30 last night after a questionable weather delay in Phillie on the runway for a couple hours. Luckily, our happy pilot got us rerouted and we made it home -- 24 hours after leaving Venice. We were so grateful that our longtime sitter and neighbor Ali was there to pick us up as arranged, waiting patiently!

We all got at least 6 hours sleep and are now busy getting the house, bills, shopping, yard and very happy Kirby back in order before we go off to work and Art Camp tomorrow.

I think it will take a few days for it all to sink in. Garin woke up this morning and asked, "Was it all a dream?" Luckily no. We have the blog, photos and memories to prove it. But still, it seems amazing that only two days ago we were floating in the Adriatic, and strolling the streets of Venice.

We are happy to offer travel advice and books to anyone thinking about going to these places. However, the best part of travel is the unknowns and unplanned things: The Harry Potter movies, the goose liver, the second-hand linen dresses and manuevering the baths with the Hungarians, the public transit system, learning not to put your feet on furniture in Budapest ticket offices, and so on.

Garin has already asked the fateful Schrieve Team question: Where to next? No plans as of yet but Australia, Bali, China and Japan all have votes as does South American and back to India and Brazil someday.

Now, off to beat the heat. At least we're ready for it!
